Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

No. 3 Blazer Tennis Sinks Buccaneers, 7-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -  In a makeup match from earlier in the season due to inclement weather, the #3 Valdosta State men's tennis team made quick work of Christian Brothers Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, Ala., with a 7-0 victory to improve to 11-0 overall and 6-0 in Gulf South Conference play.

The Blazers got on the board quickly winning all three doubles matches, dropping just three games.  Senior Christian Fellipe and junior Edward Etty won 6-0 at No. 3, while No. 34-ranked duo of juniors Luca Mack and Rodrigo Carvalho dispatched CBU duo of Alban Piranda and Juan Ycaza.   Juniors Christian Wedel and Pedro Cordeiro won at No. 2, 6-2, over Ignacio Mora and Javier Flores.

The Buccaneers (4-10, 1-8 GSC) had no answer at singles either as VSU won all six matches in straight-sets dropping just 14 games total.  Mack, ranked No. 3 nationally in singles put VSU up 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Piranda.  Wedel, ranked No. 71 in the country won at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1 over Mora for a 3-0 lead and the Blazers clinched the match at No. 2 as Carvalho won 6-2, 6-1, over Ycaza.  Felline won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4, while Cordeiro won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 and graduate student Swann Flohr won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
