VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's tennis team posted a 6-1 victory over visiting Montevallo Friday. The Blazers improved to 2-4 overall and a 1-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
The teams split the first two doubles matches with junior
Olivia Pezo and freshman
Kayla Greco winning 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, while VSU sealed the momentum for the match at No. 3 doubles as junior
Natalie Kohoutkova and freshman
Evelyn Altmaier won 7-6 (8-6) at No. 3 doubles to clinch the team point.
Greco won at No. 3 singles for a 2-0 lead as she posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Emily Hafner and sophomore
Anastasiia Vorobiova won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles for a 3-0 lead and Kohoutkova clinched the match at No. 1 with a three-set victory over Mireia Turro, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Pezo won 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 2 singles, while Montevallo posted a win at No. 5 and freshman
Jorja Reynolds won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 6 to conclude the match.
The Blazers head to Pensacola, Fla., for a Sunday matchup with Delta State, before returning home to host Saint Leo next Friday at 3 p.m.
