MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Valdosta State Blazers fell to Christian Brothers on Friday night in Memphis, Tenn. by a score of 88-57. VSU dropped to 5-5 overall and 2-4 in GSC play, while CBU improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in GSC play.

Caden Boser got things going for the Blazers on a three from the top of the arc off a pass from senior
Mike Isler to give VSU an early 3-0 lead. CBU came back with a quick 12-2 run to take a 12-5 lead heading into the first media timeout. Boser came out hot for Valdosta State, scoring seven of the first nine VSU points as he tried to will the Blazers in this matchup.
Christian Brothers started out hot from behind the arc, hitting four of their first five threes as they grew their lead to 12 heading into the under 12 timeout. The Bucs continued to hit tough shots while the Blazers couldn't muster together any offense, trailing 29-10 with 8:51 left in the first half. Boser continued his dominance, hitting a three and forcing a timeout from CBU, with VSU trailing 29-13.
Mike Isler converted an "and-one" attempt off a steal from Boser to try and slow down red-hot Christian Brothers, cutting the deficit to 19 with 5:10 remaining in the first half. CBU closed the half on a 7-2 run. The Blazers headed to the locker room trailing 47-23.
The Bucs outshot the Blazers 61.5% to 20% in the first half. CBU shot a scorching 8-13 from behind the arc while VSU shot 2-10.
Both teams started the second half trading baskets, as senior
Lee Flenor scored five straight points to open the half, as VSU trailed 51-30. The duo of Anias Futrell and Christian Jones deemed to be too tough for the Blazers, as they wreaked havoc all night, scoring 18 points and 19 points, respectively.
A layup at the 16:15 mark from Clausi sparked a quick 7-2 run that was capped off by a "and-one" from junior
Braxton Williams to get within 19 at the under 16 timeout. As they did all night, Christian Brothers came back with a run of their own, going on a 16-6 run that was finished off by a slam from Christian Jones to give CBU a 29-point lead with 10:34 remaining.
Both teams went scoreless for two minutes until a layup from Flenor and a three pointer from junior
Jack Wetzel stopped the dry spell. Valdosta State still trailed by 24 with 8:02 left in the game.
The rest of the game was much of the same as Christian Brothers defated Valdosta State 88-57 on Friday night in Memphis, Tenn.
For the game, CBU outrebounded VSU 53-35, while the Bucs dished out 20 assists on 35 made baskets.
Caden Boser scored a team high 16 points for the Blazers and tied a career high with three steals, while Christian Jones led the Bucs in scoring with 19 points.
Lee Flenor tallied a double-double for Valdosta State, scoring 15 points on 6-8 shooting and corralling 11 rebounds, with six of them being on the offensive side.
Valdosta State still and Christian Brothers are now tied in the all-time series at 11-11. CBU will travel to Valdosta, Ga. On Thursday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. as VSU looks to avenge this matchup.
The Blazers will now travel to Jackson, Tenn. to take on Union at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 17.
