VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Blazer men's basketball team will continue their road trip, heading up north to Tennessee for two games before the holidays to face Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tenn. on Friday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. ET and Union in Jackson, Tenn. on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. ET.

Friday's game will be broadcast on 94.3 WJEM FM Foxsports Valdosta and simulcast on TALK 92.1 WDDQ FM, while Sunday's game will be on TALK 92.1 WDDQ FM and talk921.com with Jack Calhoun calling the action both days. Following the games, VSU will be off for the holidays until Jan. 2, 2024, when the Blazers begin a three-game home stand versus West Florida at 6 p.m. at The Complex. VSU also will host Auburn Montgomery (Jan. 6) and Montevallo (Jan. 8).

Valdosta State enters this matchup versus Christian Brothers holding a 5-4 record, with a 2-3 record in Gulf South Conference play. The Blazers are currently in eighth place in GSC as of Dec. 13. They are most recently coming off a loss to the hands of the No. 3 ranked West Georgia Wolves on Dec. 7, by a score of 97-74. That game evened the all-time series at 16-16. The Red Clay Rivalry Series will conclude in Titletown on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m.

Christian Brothers holds a 4-3 overall record, with a 2-2 record in GSC play. The Bucs are led by junior guard Anias Futrell, who is putting up 20.1 points per game on 55.9% from the floor and a league best 50% from downtown. Union on the other hand, carries a 3-5 overall record and a 0-4 record in GSC play. Offensively, they are led by junior guard Ahmad Johnson, who is scoring 16.0 points a contest on 50% from the floor and 72.2% from the charity stripe.

Caden Boser leads the Blazers in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game on 51.1% from the floor and 37.5% from beyond the arc. As a team, Valdosta State is currently ranked third in the GSC in rebounds per game as a team, hauling in 39.6 per contest. They are averaging 81.0 points per game on 48.3% from the field.
Graduate student J.C. Clausi will be making his return to Union on Sunday, after playing for the Bulldogs for five seasons from 2018 to 2023. During those five seasons, Clausi appeared in 79 games, starting in eight and averaged 4.5 points per game on 44.4% from the field and 37.4% from three.
