MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Blazer men's and women's cross country team concluded their 2023 season on Saturday morning in Montevallo, Ala., at the NCAA DII South Regionals, hosted by the University of Montevallo. It was Lee who took home the victory for both the men's and women's, as they repeated from last season.
For the women, only four competed so they did not get a team score. Nevertheless, the Blazers finished their season strong and made some noise. Junior
Caitlyn Koske broke an eight-year record for Blazer cross country, as she finished her 6K in 22:28.8, which eclipsed the previous record of 22:29.8 set back in 2015 by Tyra Holloway. Koske would go on to finish 44
th overall. Senior
Katie LaCroix wrapped up her last race of the season with a time of 22:43.3 and 53
rd place. With that time, LaCroix is now has the third best 6K time in Blazer XC history, on top of that, she set a new PR. Fellow senior
Kyleigh Rice set a season best with a time of 25:04.5, good for 95
th. Freshman
Charlotte Carley made her NCAA Regional debut, finishing right behind Rice in 96
th with a time of 25:10.8, a new PR.
For the men, they placed 14
th overall with a score of 368. Graduate student
Logan Kraus finished his last event as a Blazer with a new PR of 32:26.1 in the 10K, as he placed 49
th. Valdosta native
Alec Munger finished second on the Blazer squad, clocking a PR time of 33:59.7 and finishing 80
th. Graduate student
Adam Mastrobuono was right on Munger's heels, finishing 82
nd with a time of 34:10.8. Freshman
Nathan Hallar made his NCAA Regional debut as he finished in 91
st overall and recorded a 34:44.2. Freshman
Aaron Munger was the final time to count for the Blazers as he finished in 94
th with a PR time of 34:53.5.
