VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Valdosta State volleyball team continues Gulf South Conference play this week as it hosts Auburn Montgomery for a match on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. before travelling to No. 18 West Florida for a key conference matchup on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Wednesday's match at The Complex will be a "Pink-Game" where fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will be handing out pink ribbons at the main entrance to all fans who want to participate in the pink out.

The Blazers are returning to play from competing in the Gulf South Conference/ Sunshine State Conference Crossover held in Orlando, Fla. where they fell to Eckerd, Rollins, and Lynn.

Valdosta State (15-9, 7-2 GSC) are eighth nationally and first in the GSC in total attacks (3,386), while the team is 12
th nationally and first in the league in total blocks with 192.5. VSU is also first in the conference in kills for 27
th nationally (1,116) while also ranking first in the conference in attacks per set, averaging 37.21 attacks a clip. The Blazers rank 21
st nationally in digs for best in the GSC (1,468), while the team ranks second in the league in total assists (994).

Individually, junior
Christina Pettigrew is 22
nd nationally and first in the GSC in total blocks with 90 and is eighth in the GSC in points per set at a 3.19 clip. She currently ranked 15
th in school history with 196 blocks and 11
th in solo rejections (52). Junior
Mackenzie Murray is third in the GSC in total kills (257), while also ranking fourth in the conference in total attacks (714). Junior
Jojo Smith ranks seventh in the GSC in total kills with 226 kills while also ranking seventh in total attacks (638). Smith currently ranks 14
th in school history in kills with 842 total kills as a Blazer. Graduate Student
Mallory Roney is second in the league and 23
rd nationally in-service aces (44) while also being fourth in the GSC in aces per set (0.48). Meanwhile, junior
Audrey Bennett is third in the conference in assists with 655 assists for the year. Overall, Bennett ranks 11
th in VSU history in assists with 977 career assists so far.

Auburn Montgomery enters The Complex with a 17-8 overall record and a 6-4 stint in GSC play. The Warhawks recently went 1-2 in the GSC/SSC Regional Crossover, falling to Nova Southeastern and No. 3 Tampa before defeating Saint Leo 3-1 on Saturday evening. Prior to the crossover, AUM was 3-2 in their last five conference matchups, defeating Lee and Shorter on the road before heading down to Orlando. AUM has six players over the 100-kill mark and are led by Alessia Cappai and Ruth Sconocchini with each having a team-high 196 kills. Auburn Montgomery is 7-3 in the last 10 matches with Valdosta State as AUM last beat VSU in the second round of the 2022 GSC Tournament, knocking the Blazers out at home, 3-1.

No. 18 West Florida comes into the week 17-6 overall with a perfect 10-0 mark in the GSC. In the GSC/SSC Regional Crossover, the Argonauts went 1-2, dropping matches to Nova Southeastern and No. 3 Tampa while defeating Florida Southern 3-0. Before hosting the Blazers, UWF is set to face West Georgia and Spring Hill on the road on Wednesday and Friday respectively. The Argonauts have six players over 100 kills with Avery Rodgers leading the team with 228 kills. West Florida currently holds a 11-game winning streak over the Blazers with the last VSU victory occurring on Oct. 20, 2015.
