Kate Tanner scored inside for a 43-40 lead with 1:24 to play. Smith earned an "and one" but missed the free throw for a 44-42 score with 38 seconds left. A turnover on the Lady Blazers gave DSU a chance to tie or take the lead with a triple, but was unable to do so in the closing seconds.
