VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's and women's tennis teams travel to Saint Leo for matches on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Both teams the men's and women's teams are coming off losses to Keiser last Thursday by a 4-2 score in both matches. VSU won the doubles point in both matches, but were unable to get the victory. On the men's side, sophomore No. 29
Rodrigo Carvalho won at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-4, for the only singles victory for VSU. Carvalho and sophomore
Luca Mack, ranked No. 2 nationally, won 6-4 at the top spot in doubles, after two-straight losses. VSU won the doubles point as freshman
Lamar Bartley and junior
Christian Felline won at No. 2, 6-2.
The women's team won the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 as freshmen
Magda Tuells Bonet and
Elisa Beau won 6-3 at No. 3 and sophomore
Julia Saving and senior Hera Brynjarsdottir Bjork won 6-4 at No. 2. In singles, Tuells Bonet won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 for the lone VSU singles victory.
Entering this week, the No. 2-ranked men's squad is 2-2 on the year as Felline and Bartley lead the team with a 3-1 record in doubles, while Mack/Carvalho are 2-2 and sophomore

Swann Flohr also are 2-2 this spring.

Cameron Henricy Trigolos are 3-1 this spring at Nos. 3 and 6, respectively. Mack, ranked No. 12 nationally in singles, and Bartley are 2-2, while sophomore
Christian Wedel is 2-1 and Felline is 1-3.
Saint Leo enters with a 5-2 record overall and a 1-1 mark in the Sunshine State Conference on the men's side. The Lions are No. 9 nationally in the latest ITA rankings. SLU defeated No. 6 West Florida 4-1 and won at No. 18 Flagler, 5-2, on Saturday. Vincent Thiel, ranked No. 45 in ITA, is 4-1 on the year at the No. 3 spot in singles, while Luis Iriarte is 4-1 at the No. 5 spot and Brad Eidenmuller is 5-0 at the No. 6 spot. In doubles, Bruno Faletto and Willem Van Den Akker are 4-1 at the top spot.
The Lions lead the all-time series 3-1, but VSU won 4-0 in the NCAA South Regional on May 11, 2019, in Valdosta, for the last meeting in the series on the men's side.
On the women's side, Saint Leo is 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the SSC. The Lions are No. 8 nationally and are 20-4 in dual matches in singles this season, while going 9-3 in doubles thus far. Celina Emann is 4-0 in singles, as are Maria Valverde Soler and No. 39 Marta Vicens Miquel. In doubles, Vicens Miquel and Lavinia Lancellotti are 4-0 at the No. 2 spot, while Alina Fedulova and Nina Furmaniak are 3-1.
This marks the first meeting between the two schools on the women's side since Feb. 7, 2016, with Saint Leo winning 8-1 in Valdosta to even the series at 1-1. VSU won on Apr. 6, 2013, 5-4 in Pensacola, Fla., for the first meeting.
For the Blazer women, who enter with a 1-4 mark this season, freshman
Adriana Barrio is 3-2 in singles this season to lead the team. She is 1-1 at the No. 5 spot and 2-1 at the No. 6 position in the lineup. Freshman
Anastasiia Vorobiova is 2-2 at the No. 3 spot. In doubles, freshman
Natalie Kohoutkova and sophomore
Julia Saving are 2-2 at the top spot, while Tuells Bonet and Beau are 2-1 at the No. 3 position.
Following the match on Tuesday, VSU returns home to open Gulf South Conference play on Saturday at 10 a.m., at the VSU Tennis Courts.
