CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's basketball team fell 84-74 to the West Georgia Wolves on Saturday afternoon in the final contest of the 2021-2022 season. 

The Blazers (11-16, 7-13 Gulf South Conference) were led by a team-high 20 points from redshirt junior guard Cam Hamilton. Hamilton went 8 of 16 from the field and 4 of 7 beyond the arc and six rebounds and two assists. 

Junior forward Michael Cole led the team's rebounding efforts, grabbing seven off the rim while the team went 28 of 59 from the field and 6 of 19 beyond the arc. 

For the Wolves (15-12, 12-8 GSC), the team was led by Kadeim Jones, who put up 30 points while UWG went 29 of 66 from the field and 7 of 21 from beyond the arc. 

Junior forward Maurice Gordon got the game started with a dunk assisted by junior guard Jacolbey Owens, while UWG responded on the other end of the court to tie the game at 2-2 with 19:25 left in the half. 

The game was neck and neck until the Blazers jumped to 31-20 from a three pointer by redshirt freshman guard Jeremy Golson. The Wolves slowly started to chip at the Blazers' lead and ended the half with VSU up 33-28. 

In the second half, the Wolves tied the game with 18:19 left in the half from a jumper by Jones. Hamilton responded with a three pointer at the other end to give the Blazers a 36-33 lead. 

UWG's Michael Zabetakis gave the Wolves the lead with 15:09 left of action with a deep trey. From there, the Wolves slowly built a lead from scoring efforts by Zabetakis and Jones to give UWG a 62-53 lead. 

After a bout of fouling attempting the comeback, the Blazers ultimately fell 82-74 to the Wolves.
