VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 4 Nova Southeastern Sunday afternoon. With the loss, VSU fell to 0-3 on the season, while NSU improved to 4-0.
The Sharks won two of the three doubles matches to win the team point, but Blazer freshman duo of
Magda Tuells Bonet and
Elisa Beau won at No. 3, 6-4, over Karolina Snita and Diana Follin-Arbelet.
In singles, NSU won the top five matches in straight-sets, but freshman
Adriana Barrio won at No. 6 as she dropped the first set in a tiebreaker. Barrio won the first game of the second set before Chantal Nosievici had to retire, giving Barrio the victory.
The Blazers return to action next Friday at Embry-Riddle at 2 p.m., in Daytona Beach, Fla.
