VALDOSTA, Ga. – Visiting No. 21 Mississippi College women's soccer team posted two goals in the first half and two in the second for a 4-0 victory over Valdosta State Tuesday afternoon at the VSU Soccer Complex.
The Blazers fell to 3-6-1 overall and 2-5 in Gulf South Conference play, while MC improved to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in league play. VSU finished with 12 shots for the match and five on frame, while MC had 17 shots and 11 on target. The Choctaws benefited from two converted penalty kick attempts, one in each half.
VSU returns to the road this weekend, beginning a four-match road swing with matches at Union on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, and at Christian Brothers on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. Trips to West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville follow next week and the Blazers then return home to host Montevallo (Oct. 21) and Auburn Montgomery (Oct. 23) to close out the regular season.
The Choctaws scored two goals in a matter of 1:43 as MaryElla White scored her first of two goals at the 10:25 mark in the first half and Erin Hederman scored her tenth goal of the season at the 12:08 mark on a penalty kick for a 2-0 lead. VSU had a great look from sophomore
Rachael Howard late in the first half, but MC goalkeeper Sara Maleski was up to the task for one of her five saves for the match.

Landon Carter made her first start of the season and recording seven saves in the match, playing all 90 minutes. Sophomore
Molly Wooldridge paced the team with three shots and one on target.
For MC, White had six shots and five on goal with two scores, while Hederman finished with a goal and an assist on three shots with two on frame. In the second half, White scored her second goal from a deep shot outside the 18 off an assist from Beatrice Currie and then Margherit Giubilato scored on the second penalty kick of the contest.
