ST. AUGUSTINE Fla. – The Valdosta State Blazer volleyball team fell to No. 6 Lewis University in the fourth and final match of the Flagler Saints Invitational Saturday afternoon while
Kylie Stroehlein recorded her second double double of the season with 10 kills and 18 digs.

First Set:Â
The Blazers started the match against No. 6 Lewis University with two kills by
Deona Mims with help from
Tammy Reyes-Perez to make the score 2-4 in favor of Lewis. The Flyers then rallied off a few points by kills and errors made by VSU to get away from the Blazers making the score 10-3. Kills by
Jessie Mooney and Stroehlein brought the score to 11-7 still in the favor of the Flyers. Lewis continued to take the lead with three service aces and several kills making the score 24-8. An ace by
Megan Stanton and kill by Mims were not enough for the Blazers to make a comeback. Lewis then took set one 25-11.

Second Set:Â
The Blazers began the second set off with a kill by Stroehlein, an ace by Stanton along with a few Lewis attacking errors making the score 4-1. Lewis then caught back up to the Blazers but a kill from Mims assisted by Perez made the score 7-5 until the Flyers then put down two kills tying the game back up at seven. From this point, the game was back and forth points between the Blazers and Flyers until Lewis took control and won the second set 25-15.

Third Set:
Mooney and Mims started off the third set with kills for VSU however, Lewis added kills as well with the score being tied at 5. The set continued to be competitive throughout the early moments of the set with long rallies from both teams until VSU decided to pull away. With attacking errors made by Lewis, alongside kills from the Blazers, VSU led the set 20-12. A few errors made by the Blazers allowed the Flyers to scratch back, but it wasn't enough for them to take the lead. The Blazers then went on to win the set 25-16.

Fourth Set:
Mims recorded a kill with the help of Perez to start off the fourth set, but the game was taken over by attacking errors by both teams tying the game at three. A kill by
Grace Daugherty then brought the score to 6-8 but was slowly taken over by attacking errors by VSU making the score 11-6. Two kills by Stroehlein and one by Mims made the score 19-12. VSU then went on a run with a service ace by
Rebecca Sills, a kill by Stroehlein, and attacking errors by Lewis which brought the game to 19-18. Lewis then recovered and proceeded to win the set and match 25-21.

Inside the Numbers:Â
The Blazers finished the match with 63 digs, 35 kills, 32 assists, five blocks, and four aces for the match. Mims led VSU with 12 kills followed by Stroehlein with 10, and Mooney with eight. Stroehlein tallied 18 digs followed by
Lyara Rosario with 14, and Sills with nine. Perez led VSU with 29 assists.
