VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State senior men's golfer Wesley Hanson was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team, announced this week.  This is the third-straight year he has earned College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors.

Hanson, a native of Macon, Ga., became the first Blazer men's golfer to earn Academic All-America honors as selected by CoSIDA in 2020 as a third team honoree.  He now will be on the ballot again for Academic All-America consideration.  He is one of two golfers (Cedric Nitz, Spring Hill) to earn Academic All-District honors from the Gulf South Conference, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Sunshine State Conferences.  Hanson also is one of two from the GSC to earn all-district honors as West Florida's men's tennis standout Juan Cabrera is the other.

This season, Hanson helped lead VSU to the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional, playing in eight tournaments and a 73.71 stroke average in 24 rounds.  He earned GSC Academic All-Conference honors for the second time and was named GSC Men's Golf Spring Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second-straight season in 2021 with a 4.0 grade-point average in Management and a minor in accounting.  He also earned All-GSC Second Team honors this season.

For his career, he has played in 23 tournaments for 76 rounds and 67 rounds in the 70s and a career stroke average of 75.3 and a career-low round of 66.
