VALDOSTA, Ga. – It's the Friday of the Master's and, in the theme of golf, the Valdosta State Blazer Spotlight Podcast highlighted an outstanding Valdosta State senior men's golfer in Wesley Hanson for the newest addition to the podcast Friday.
 
The Blazer Spotlight Podcast is in its second season as this is the 16^th episode of the 2020-21 season and the eighth of 2021.  The 2019-20 season had 23 episodes featuring numerous Blazer coaches, student-athletes and more.  The show is produced by Assistant Professor of Digital Production, Dr. Colin Walker, and hosted by Assistant Athletic Director for Development, Matt Malone.

Hanson became the first Blazer men's golf to be on the podcast as he sat down to discuss his interest, his career at VSU and how he has managed to complement his efforts on the golf course with a 4.0 grade-point average and the honor of carrying the banner this May as the top graduate out of VSU's Langdale College of Business. 
 
A native of Macon, Ga., Hanson has had a standout career for the Blazers as he became the first men's gofer to earn Academic All-America as selected by CoSIDA honors in 2019-20 and was named the Gulf South Conference Spring Men's Golf Champion Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while earning GSC All-Academic honors.  In 2017-18, he was named GSC Freshman of the Year and earned has been an GSC All-Academic honoree twice and GSC Academic honor roll selection three times.
 
On the course, Hanson has played in 21 tournaments for 70 rounds and has tallied 75.6 stroke average.  Hanson has 61 rounds in the 70s for his career with a career-best round of 66 set this season at the Saint Leo Invitational. 
 
Hanson and the No. 28 Blazers are preparing for the 2021 GSC Championship, scheduled for Apr. 17-19 in Mobile, Ala., at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove.
