VALDOSTA, Ga. – The newly No. 7-ranked Valdosta State men's tennis team posted a 4-0 victory over No. 21 Washburn Thursday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Complex. The Blazers improved to 5-0 on the year and 4-0 against ranked teams this season.
Washburn, from Topeka, Kan., fell to 6-2 on the year and went 2-1 on its road trip to Georgia and Florida. The Washburn won 6-1 at Northwood University (Fla.) on Tuesday and then defeated No. 9 Flagler 6-1 on Wednesday.

Heading into singles, Simbozel won 6-1, 6-4 over Miquel Perez at No. 2, for a 2-0 Blazer lead. Nguyen made quick work of Raul-Alin Dicu, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 for a 3-0 and Wedel clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 3 over Paul Haase to clinch the match.
Felline had a 6-4, 4-2 victory at No. 5 when the match was decided, while Mack led 2-0 in the second set against Eidenmueller at No. 4 after dropping the first set 7-6. At No. 6, freshman
Cameron Henricy Trigolos won the first set 6-3 and was tied in the second set, 5-5.
The Blazers head to Shorter for a match Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a 10 a.m. match Saturday at Lee and then a Wednesday, Mar. 17, match at Georgia College at 2 p.m. The Blazers then return home for key matches beginning Mar. 23 against Montevallo.
