#19 VALDOSTA STATE 7, FLAGLER 2
Â
The Blazers started the game out hot as
Jowenrick Daantji was able to get on base and advance to third after a stolen base and a passed ball. Maberry was able to get the bats going for VSU with a single through the right side to bring Daantji home while Doskow was walked to put the bases loaded, but the Blazers fell short to bring in more runners, leaving three stranded.
Â
The Blazers were able to jack the bases once again in the top of the third, this time taking advantage of the opportunity starting off with a bases loaded walk. After a bobbled ball by the third baseman during the next at-bat, Maberry crossed the plate with an RBI awarded to Delnegro. Now up three, Morla Jr. cracked a single through the left side to bring in two Blazers and increase its lead.
Ben Rowdon found the base pads after he was hit by a pitch but just like before, the Blazers left three stranded but were able to bring in four runners.
Â
Doskow added an insurance run in the sixth with a home run blast into left field on a full count and Lewis added a run batted in off a throwing error in the sixth to increase the Blazer lead to seven.
Â
Starting pitcher
Jeremy Adams was dealing through the fifth where he allowed one hit during his first batter faced but got through four-straight innings without allowing a hit before he was replaced in the sixth. Adams ended the day with five strikeouts and just one hit, with no batters walked and was able to only see 15 batters, good for three an inning.
Â
Flagler was able to get some runs on the board in the bottom half of the sixth off a two-run single with no one out, putting the pressure on the Blazer defense. VSU answered, however, with a fly out to center field followed by a crucial double play to get out of the jam with just two runs scored against the Blazers.
Â
The Blazers just needed to play defense from there on out and were able to put out the Saints where it left five runners stranded to take the weeknight game 7-2.
