SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Valdosta State men's and women's cross country teams headed to Saint Leo, Fla., Saturday morning to compete in the NCAA DII South Regional Cross Country Championship. The men's team finished ninth with 271 points while the women's team finished 13th with 350 points.
The race was held at Abbey Golf Course and was hosted by Saint Leo University. The women's race consisted of 23 teams while men's race consisted of 22 teams, as this was the largest field for regional since 2012.
For Valdosta State, all seven Blazer women's runners toed the line, while the Blazer men's team featured
Nick Flatt, Nick Rosatti, Brishen House, Adam Mastrobuono, Charlie Eaton, Dalton Pender, and Logan Kraus.
All men competing for the Blazers ran a personal record, while junior
Brishen House crossed the finish line first for VSU in 34
thwith a time of 33:27.34.

Angie Cipriani was the first Blazer to cross the line in 20th place with a time of 23:15.20. Freshman

Kiley Matheson were the only runners on the women's team to run a personal record as Koske ran a 27:23.84, Rice ran a 27:04.28, and Matheson with a 29:42.02. Senior
Leah Johnson recorded a season best on the Abbey Golf Course with a time of 24:18.44.

"Our team competed in an extremely gutsy race," said head coach
Todd Smoot. "I am very proud of how everyone competed, given the conditions they were put in from the weather."
The Blazer men's team finished as the fifth best team in the Gulf South Conference as the Blazer women's team finished as the sixth best team in the GSC.
"I was happy with how his athletes worked this morning, as it gives us a good path for the spring and to prepare for next season," Smoot added.
