Atlanta, Ga. – The Valdosta State volleyball defeated Clark Atlanta in a non-conference matchup this evening as they wrapped up its three-match road series. The Blazers won in three sets as this was their first time matching up against the Panthers since September 7, 2012.

First Set:
The Blazers started the match two points behind the Panthers but tied the set at two with a kill by graduate student Deona Mims and freshman Jojo Smith. VSU eventually took the lead 11-8 off attacking errors as the Panthers tried to scratch their way back. Kills from freshman Caitlin Warnshuis, freshman Kylie Stroehlein, and Smith with assists from senior Tammy Reyes-Perez, gave the Blazers a seven-point lead as they cruised to take the first set 25-15.

Second Set:
CAU took the early lead in the second set, 3-1.  VSU fought back up and tied the set at eight with a kill from Reyes-Perez and the assist from redshirt freshman Lyara Rosario. The set went back and forth between as neither team gained much of a lead until the Blazers began to pull away and took the second set 25-18.

Third Set:
The Panthers took an early 2-0 lead, once again, but the Blazers responded with a run and proceeded to lead 5-2 with a kill and two service aces by Stroehlein. CAU scored three-straight but was stopped and followed by a VSU four-point run, making the score 9-5. VSU added to its lead with a kill by sophomore Kennedy Deluca and freshman Ah'Miah Harris, as she recorded her first collegiate kill, for a 16-11 advantage. The Blazers went on to take set three 25-17 and the match 3-0.  It marked the second straight-set victory for the Blazers this season (UNC Pembroke, Sept. 11).
