MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team defeated the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks 2-1 Friday afternoon to improve 10-5-1 on the year, and 7-4-1 in Gulf South Conference play. AUM falls to 6-9 on the year and 4-8 in the GSC.
The Blazers didn't waste any time getting on the scoresheet, as freshman
Molly Wooldridge recorded her ninth collegiate goal 37 seconds into the match to give VSU a 1-0 advantage. Wooldridge broke her own record for the fastest goal in school history, as the previous fastest goal for VSU came from Wooldridge herself on October 10, at Delta State, 1:03 into the match. Wooldridge finished the afternoon with six shots, four on goal, and 71 minutes while sophomore
Amber Saunders, who assisted the goal, finished the game with one assist in 47 minutes.
VSU played solid defense and offense throughout the first half and rounded out the first 45, recording six shots, four on goal, and five corners, while the Warhawks recorded five shots and two corners.
In the second half, the Warhawks bounced back to level the match 1-1 in the 73rd minute from Mayson Jaindl's put-back shot off a free kick by Marjin Kissen.

Stephen Andrew, sophomore
Bailey Hern recorded her sixth goal of the season in the 79th minute off a corner kick from senior
Kyleigh Reedy to bring the final scoreline to 2-1 in favor of the Blazers. Hern finished the match with a game-winning goal and two shots in 81 minutes, while Reedy rounded out the game, recording one shot and one assist in 87 minutes.
The Blazers finished the match with 12 shots, six on goal, and nine corners, while AUM finished the game with nine shots, two on goal, and six corners.
Freshman goalkeeper
Emma Pruett was in between the posts for the entire 90 minutes. She recorded one save in nine shots faced and allowed only one goal past her, and her record on the year improves to 4-2-0.
VSU improves its record against AUM to 5-1 and 3-0 in Montgomery. The Blazers round out the regular season on November 4 at 5 p.m. on the road against the West Georgia Wolves in the Red Clay Rivalry.
The Gulf South Conference Championship begins on Sunday, November 7, on campus sites, while the semifinals and championship are scheduled for November 11-13 at Ashton Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla.
