Blazer Cross Country Teams Finish Sixth at GSC XC Championships; Women's Cipriani named to GSC Second Team All-Conference

CLINTON, Miss. – The Valdosta State men's and women's cross-country teams headed to Clinton, Miss. Saturday morning to compete in the Gulf South Conference XC Championship. The men and women's team both finished sixth overall, with the men finishing with 187 points while the women finished with 189 points.
 
The race marked the teams' fifth race of the season as they matched their performance of last year at the GSC XC Championship.
 
The 10 men who competed in the 8K were led by junior Brishen House as he finished 28th with a time of 25:37.3. Taking first out of the men's team was Lee University with a score of 21.

For the women, senior Angie Cipriani was the first Blazer to cross the line in 14th place with a time of 18:36.3. Cipriani was also named to the GSC Second Team All-Conference, marking the third consecutive year she has won GSC All-Conference accolades as she was named to GSC Second Team in 2019 and GSC First Team in 2020.

"Both teams were unsatisfied with their performance today," said head coach Todd Smoot. "We look forward to putting this race behind us and concentrating on the South Regional meet."

Next, the cross-country teams compete in the DII Regional XC Championship on November 6, at Saint Leo University in Tampa, Fla.
