VALDOSTA, Ga. – On a very cold morning for February, the No. 19 Valdosta State men's tennis team posted a 4-1 win over Rollins as it improved to 3-2 on the year.
The Blazers opened with strong performances in doubles as the team won at No. 3 and at No. 2 in just 29 minutes for the 1-0 lead. Junior

Robert Cizek downed Freddy Danielson and Mikkel Baumann, 6-2. VSU clinched the team point as freshmen duo of
Luca Mack and
Edward Etty also won at No. 2 doubles 6-2 versus Andrea Brignacca and Atakan Gezer. VSU's top duo of senior
Yohan Nguyen and junior
Florian Simbozel were up 5-2 win the point was decided.
Nguyen, ranked seventh nationally, opened the singles portion with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Luke Horan for a 2-0 lead. Simbozel then posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Gai Feigin for a 3-0 advantage.
The Tars (1-5) got on the board at No. 5 as Brignacca won in straight-sets over Cizek, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5, for a 3-1 VSU lead. Kalivoda ended the match with a win at No. 6 over Danielson, 6-4, 6-2. Mack and Etty were in the third set of their matches at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, when the match was decided.
The Blazers return to action on Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. versus Embry-Riddle at the VSU Tennis Complex.
