DAHLONEGA, Ga. – An early goal and late goal handed the Valdosta State women's soccer team a 2-0 loss at North Georgia Friday evening.  With the loss, the Blazers fell to 0-2 on the year, while UNG improved to 3-0. 
 
Valdosta State junior goalkeeper Caroline Embler had ten saves in the contest in all 90 minutes, while freshman Amber Saunders had two shots to lead the team.  Sophomores Kyleigh Reedy and Lyanna Steel each and shots on frame, senior Ashley Lewis and freshman Charlotte Sarri added shots for the Blazer attack. 
 
UNG opened the game with a goal in the 12^th minute as Taylor Malasek scored the game winner for the Nighthawks.  She finished with four shots and three on frame and a goal.  Katey Derkay had a game-high five shots and three on goal. 
 
The game remained 1-0 through the first half as the Blazers struggled to get much offensive action.  Lewis' shot came in the 41^st minute, but it sailed wide for the lone shot in the half for the Blazers.
 
The Nighthawks had a shot by Meredith Tucker at 81:12 and then Rosie Embley finished with the second goal second later and a 2-0 lead.
