MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The top-seeded Valdosta State men's tennis team started fast and never looked back as it posted a 4-0 win over No. 8-seed Alabama Huntsville in the first round of the 2019 Gulf South Conference Championship.
VSU advances to the semifinal round where it will face No. 4-seed Lee at Lagoon Park, while No. 3-seed West Alabama will face No. 2-seed West Florida. Fans can access coverage of the matches by

Florian Simbozel won at No. 2, 6-4, while VSU's top duo of junior

Axel Holm won 7-6 for a 1-0 team lead. In singles, Mas downed Timo Christen at the top spot, 6-4, 6-2, while Nguyen won at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory and freshman
Robert Cizek won at No. 6, 6-4, 6-2, for the 4-0 win.
VSU downed Lee earlier in the season, 5-2 on Mar. 17, 2019, in Cleveland, Tenn. Lee defeated No. 5-seed Montevallo, 4-1 Thursday.
