MONTEVALLO, Ala. – In the third shutout of the weekend, Valdosta State blanked Montevallo 5-0 for a series victory Sunday afternoon.  VSU senior 
DJ King paced the team, going 2 for 4 with two runs scored, while junior 
Logan Stephens was 1 for 2 with a run scored and two RBI. 
 
The Blazers (20-17, 9-11 GSC) tallied the second league shutout in as many days as junior 
Zach Blankenship pitched eight shutout innings, allowing five hits, walked two and fanned two, improving to 3-2 on the year.  Senior 
Trevin Eubanks pitched the ninth with one strikeout.    
 
VSU outscored Montevallo (16-21, 13-11 GSC) 9-1 for the series and held the Falcons to a .125 hitting clip.  The Blazer staff had a 0.35 ERA for the series with two shutouts in 25.2 innings, allowing 11 hits, one earned run, walked 11 and fanned 23.  Junior 
Jowenrick Daantji went 4 for 10 with a RBI, while Stephens was 3 for 10 with a run scored and two RBI.
 
On Sunday, VSU took the lead with a single run in the top of the third as junior 
Wesley Brooks began the inning with a double down the left field line, followed by a sacrifice bunt.  Brooks scored on a throwing error for a 1-0 lead.  The Blazers then added three runs in the fourth on a Stephens two RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Brooks for a 4-0 lead.  VSU stretched the lead to 5-0 in the sixth on a single up the middle from senior and GSC Player of the Week 
Andrew Williamson. 
 
In the final three innings of the game, the VSU staff was masterful as Blankenship and Eubanks combined for just two base runners and one hit to preserve the shutout.
