Blazer Men’s Golf in Contention Heading into Final Round of Southeastern Collegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 40 Valdosta State men's golf team fired a second round, 6-under 282 and sits tied for fifth heading into the final round of the 2019 Southeastern Collegiate on the par 72, 7,365-yard Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. 
 
Top-ranked Barry moved up one spot with a blistering second round of 10-under 278 to take the lead, while No. 3 West Florida sits second at 9-under for the tournament at 567 as the Argos were 7-under On Monday.  No. 23 Columbus State and No. 9 Nova Southeastern are tied for third 6-under 570.  NSU fired an impressive 14-under 274 on Monday, moving up nine spots from a 296 to open the tournament Sunday. 
 
No. 2-ranked Lynn and VSU are tied for fifth at 574 as VSU was 6-under on Monday.  No. 6 Florida Tech and No. 15 Saint Leo are tied for seventh at 576, while No. 30 Rollins is ninth (580) and No. 34 Lee rounds out the top ten at 581. 
 
Flagler is 11th (584), followed by No. 37 Newberry (585), No. 5 Florida Southern is 13th, while No. 19 Limestone is 14th at 588 and Lander is 15th at 589.  No. 25 Georgia Southwestern is 16th at 590, followed by Georgia College (594) and Montevallo rounds out the field at 605. 
 
Individually, NSU's No. 11-ranked Juan Jose Guerra is 12-under for the tournament and 7-under Monday with rounds of 67 and 65 for a 132 score, while Rollins' Morgan Egloff is second at 9-under 135 on rounds of 69 and 66 and Blazer senior Matt Anderson is third at 7-under 137 on rounds of 68 and 69. 
 
VSU freshman Brock Healy is tied for 24th with an even par 144 on rounds of 73 and 71, while freshmen Gage Smith and Davis Smith are tied for 48th at 148, each carding rounds of 77 and 71.  Junior Jordan Long is tied for 68th with a 151 score on rounds of 74 and 77.
 
Individually, VSU sophomore Wesley Hanson is tied for 24th with a 144 score on rounds of 70 and 74, while junior Thomas Jespersen is tied for 79th with a 153 score on rounds of 75 and 78. 
 
VSU tees off the final round tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. off the first hole.  The final round gets underway at 8:21 a.m.  Check back with vstateblazers.com for complete results of Tuesday's round.
