INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Valdosta State men's basketball team learned Sunday evening it received the No. 4-seed in the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball South Region Championship.  The Blazers will face a familiar foe in Gulf South Conference member West Alabama in the first round.
 
Nova Southeastern earned hosting duties for the regional as the Sharks will battle Miles College out of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  VSU will face West Alabama in the 4/5 matchup, while Florida Southern earned the No. 2-seed and will battle No. 7-seed Delta State.  Lynn earned the No. 3-seed and will face No. 6-seed Alabama Huntsville. 
 
The Gulf South Conference had four selections to the regional, while the Sunshine State Conference received three bids and the SIAC had one.  This will be the Blazers' third-straight trip to the NCAA Championship and the 11^th in program history.  VSU is 8-10 all-time in the NCAA Championship.
 
VSU is 26-4 on the year and won its third-straight Gulf South Conference regular season title this season, sharing the league title with West Alabama, both going 16-4 in league play.  VSU downed the Tigers twice this season and are 4-2 against the regional field this year.  VSU went 1-2 against Delta State and 1-0 against Alabama Huntsville.
