VALDOSTA, Ga.- Behind a balanced scoring effort, the Valdosta State Lady Blazers dominated Albany State on Saturday afternoon, 87-56.
Kayla Frey led the way for the Lady Blazers with her first double-double of the season.

Delaney Bernard dazzled for VSU tallying 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. VSU had three other double-digit scorers including:
Germani Abram (13),
Abby Rouse (12) and Frey (16). Frey's tallied the double-double by also grabbing ten rebounds.

For the Golden Rams, Alexandria James had a game-high 14 points and chipped in with six rebounds.

Both teams traded scores early in the first quarter, before a three-pointer from Bernard sparked a 11-2 run to end the first quarter. VSU took a 19-11 lead into the second quarter.

The Lady Blazers dominated the second quarter as VSU outscored Albany State 20-12. VSU took a 39-23 lead into the half, thanks to Bernard's 11 first-half points.

Coming out of the break, the Lady Blazers started quick again. VSU extended its lead to 20 points courtesy of a layup from freshman guard
Jillian King. The defense played a huge role in the third quarter, as VSU held Albany State to just 20% from the field.

With the game well in hand, VSU did not back off. The Lady Blazers extended their lead to 30 points early in the fourth quarter, behind a layup from
Germani Abram. Â

Overall, the Lady Blazers impressed on Saturday. Once again, VSU showed off its high-scoring attack and stingy defense. The Lady Blazers held the Golden Rams to just 26.7% from the field, while the offense shot 46.7%. VSU forced 20 turnovers, and converted those opportunities into points, with 21 points off turnovers.
