A triple by Guillozet and a jumper from Justice sparked a 5-0 run and pushed the VSU lead to nine at 32-23 with 6:17 left in the half and later Guillozet buried another triple and a jumper of his first half 19 points for a 42-29 lead with 4:15 left.

The Choctaws kept battling and closed the half on a 15-2 run for a 44-41 VSU lead at intermission.  Neither team scored over the final 1:10 of the first half as Guillozet scored the Blazers' final seven points of the half over the last 4:15.
