THE LEAD:Â Coming off a thrilling come-from-behind victory on Friday, the Valdosta State women's soccer team scored two goals in the first half and played a scoreless second frame for a 2-1 victory at Montevallo on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- The Blazers allowed an early goal as Kira Borchard scored 13:39 into the match with an assist from Madison Madewell for a 1-0 lead.
- Junior Ashley Lewis evened the score in the 30thminute and, just 2:37 later, VSU found the back of the net once again as senior Carly Montgomery found the back of the net for a 2-1 lead.
- From there, the Blazers and freshman goalkeeper Samantha Blanford, who was making her second career and consecutive start, fought off three corner kicks and four shots over the final 20 minutes of the half as VSU didn't' have a shot during the span.
- The Falcons came out looking for the equalizer in the second half as Blanford and the Blazer "D" were up to the task.
- Montevallo fired 12 shots in the second half, while Blanford made five second half saves to preserve the lead and eventually the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- For the match, VSU had just seven shots with three on frame, but two of them went in.
- Montevallo fired 21 shots with seven on goal for the game.
- Blanchard record six saves in the match.
- The Falcons held a 10-3 lead in corner kicks, while both teams committed eight fouls.
- For the weekend, Montgomery scored two goals for the Blazers, while Lewis had a goal and an assist for the two games.
