  • THE POSTSEASON RETURN - The Lady Blazers make their second consecutive appearance in the Gulf South Conference Tournament, and will host for the second straight season as well. Last year, the Lady Blazers used their first-round home game to spark a run that led them to the program's first Gulf South Conference Championship in over 30 years. Tuesday night's matchup marks a rematch of last year's GSC Championship game.
  • HOME SWEET HOME - With last Thursday's win over West Florida, Valdosta State improved to a perfect 14-0 at home on the season. Dating back to last season, the Lady Blazers have now won 20 consecutive home games, which marks the longest home winning streak in the Gulf South Conference since Arkansas Tech hit 36 straight in 2009-11.
  • ELITE STATUS - Senior Madi Mitchell connected on a short baseline jumper in the second quarter of VSU's win over Shorter last month to become the newest member of the Lady Blazer basketball 1,000-point club. The achievement made Mitchell just the 26th Lady Blazer in VSU women's basketball history to reach the milestone. Mitchell finished the regular season ranked second in the Gulf South Conference in scoring with an average of 18.3 points per game. Mitchell has scored 20-plus points in nine games this year, including Thursday night's win over UWF, where she posted 25. She also ranks fourth in the league with an average of 8.9 rebounds per game.

NO. 6 WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS
16-11, 11-9 GSC

  • SERIES HISTORY - Valdosta State and West Florida will meet for the 50th time in history on Tuesday night. The Lady Blazers hold a 29-20 advantage all-time against the Argonauts.
  • STEPPING UP - Senior Shanique Magee, who is currently averaging just 6.6 points per game, came alive on senior night for a career-high 18 points just over one week ago in Pensacola, Fla. The performance, along with a double-double by Courtney Meyer, helped lift the Argonauts to a monster upset over No. 6 ranked Union on February 17th for one of their biggest wins in program history. The win marked the highest ranked team ever defeated by UWF women's basketball.
  • LAST TIME OUT - In front of a lively crowd, Valdosta State used a career-high 24 point performance by senior Taylor Buie to claim a 67-62 win over UWF. The Blazers outscored the Argonauts 18-2 in the second quarter to overcome a slow start and claim victory. VSU's Madi Mitchell led the Blazers with 25 points in the game, while junior Jazmyn McIntosh recorded a team-high 14 rebounds. In the two team's first matchup of the year, the Argonauts handled the Lady Blazers in mid-December for a 67-58 victory. Shami Goodman scored 30 points in the game.
