VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's basketball team returns to action Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. versus Thomas University at The Complex.

VSU is 7-4 overall and 2-2 in Gulf South Conference play and hasn't played since a 71-66 win at Alabama Huntsville on Dec. 17. In that game, senior
Sonya Franklin scored 17 point on 8 of 10 from the field to lead three players in double figures. Senior
Crystal Townsend also had 17 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while sophomore
Kayla Bonilla added 16 points. Townsend went 6 of 7 from the line to lead the team. VSU shot .364 from the field and 20 of 29 from the line. VSU forced 17 turnovers and had a season-low eight miscues for the game as VSU held an 18-11 lead in points off turnovers.
Nationally speaking, VSU ranks 16
thnationally in offensive rebounds, averaging 17 per game, while ranking 37
thnationally in free throw attempts with 245 for third in the conference. VSU is allowing 58.2 points per game for second in the league and 48
thnationally. The Lady Blazers are 29

Townsend leads the team averaging 11.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. Franklin is third in scoring at 10.4 points per game, while she is 44 of 94 from the field and 22 of 38 from the line. Franklin has a team-high 28 assists with a team-best 16 steals.
Thomas University is 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the Sun Conference as the Night Hawks are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Night Hawks are averaging 63.6 points per game and allowing 73.7, while shooting .352 from the field and teams are shooting .404 against them. Thomas is averaging 37.8 rebounds per game, while allowing 45.9. Individually, Micah Garvin leads the team averaging 15.9 points per game and is second in rebounding at 6.0 per contest.
