VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's basketball team returns to action Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. versus Thomas University at The Complex.

VSU is 7-4 overall and 2-2 in Gulf South Conference play and hasn't played since a 71-66 win at Alabama Huntsville on Dec. 17.  In that game, senior Sonya Franklin scored 17 point on 8 of 10 from the field to lead three players in double figures.  Senior Crystal Townsend also had 17 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while sophomore Kayla Bonilla added 16 points.  Townsend went 6 of 7 from the line to lead the team.  VSU shot .364 from the field and 20 of 29 from the line.  VSU forced 17 turnovers and had a season-low eight miscues for the game as VSU held an 18-11 lead in points off turnovers.
 
Nationally speaking, VSU ranks 16^thnationally in offensive rebounds, averaging 17 per game, while ranking 37^thnationally in free throw attempts with 245 for third in the conference.  VSU is allowing 58.2 points per game for second in the league and 48^thnationally.  The Lady Blazers are 29^thnationally in rebounding with 480 and second in the league in rebounds per game at 43.6 for 20^thnationally.  VSU has a 3.18 turnover margin for third in the league and 63^rdnationally.  Townsend leads the GSC in offensive rebounds per game, averaging three per contest for 56^thnationally.
 
For the season, the Lady Blazers are shooting .374 from the field on 254 of 679, while going 53 of 192 (.276) from beyond the arc and are 152 of 245 from the line for a .620 clip. VSU averages 43.6 rebounds per game, while allowing 33.5 per contest.  VSU has 106 assists, 172 turnovers, 26 blocks and 101 steals, averaging 64.8 points per game. Conversely, the opposition is shooting .399 from the field on 232 of 582, while going 56 of 193 from beyond the arc (.290) and 120 of 190 (.632) from the line.  The opponents have 118 assist, 207 turnovers, 27 blocks and 74 steals.  
 
Townsend leads the team averaging 11.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game.  She is 46 of 97 from the field for a .474 clip, while going 10 of 21 from beyond the arc (.476) and 23 of 29 from the line (.793).  She has 14 steals for third on the team. Bonilla is second in scoring at 10.6 points per game, while going 39 of 101 from the field and a team-high 31 of 41 from the line (.756).  She has 27 assists for second on the team and 14 steals.  Franklin is third in scoring at 10.4 points per game, while she is 44 of 94 from the field and 22 of 38 from the line.  Franklin has a team-high 28 assists with a team-best 16 steals.  
 
Thomas University is 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the Sun Conference as the Night Hawks are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  The Night Hawks are averaging 63.6 points per game and allowing 73.7, while shooting .352 from the field and teams are shooting .404 against them.  Thomas is averaging 37.8 rebounds per game, while allowing 45.9.  Individually, Micah Garvin leads the team averaging 15.9 points per game and is second in rebounding at 6.0 per contest.  She is 92 of 234 from the field (.3939) and a team-best 47 of 60 from the line (.783).  Dymon Brown is second in scoring at 11.5 points per game on a team-best 60 of 136 from the field (.441), while Brown leads the team from beyond the arc at 31 of 84 (.369).
