VALDOSTA, Ga. – Fresh off one of its best games of the season, the Valdosta State women's basketball team returns to Gulf South Conference play at Lee University Saturday and at Alabama Huntsville on Monday. The Lady Blazers are 6-3 overall and have won four-straight games, while going 1-1 in GSC play.

VSU is coming off a 78-54 win over Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday at The Complex. In the win, the Lady Blazers had four players in double figures led by 18 points from junior
Nari Garner as she was 6 of 10 from the field, with five triples. Senior
Maddy Corazza narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds, while senior
Sonya Franklin went a perfect 6 of 6 from the field with six rebounds and five assists for 12 points.
The Lady Blazers shot 30 of 56 from the field for a season-high 53.6 percent, while going 7 of 12 from beyond the arc and 11 of 16 from the line. VSU had a rebounding advantage of 39-25, while holding GSW to 22 of 59 from the field for 37.3 percent, 5 of 18 from beyond the arc and 5 of 6 from the line.
For the season, sophomore
Kayla Bonilla leads the team averaging 10.3 points per game on 30 of 74 from the field. She is 5 of 16 from beyond the arc, while leading the team from the line at 28 of 37. She and Franklin lead the team with 23 assists each. Senior
Crystal Townsend is second in scoring at 10.0 points per game. She is a team-best 34 of 73 from the field (.466), while going 8 of 14 from beyond the arc and 14 of 18 from the line. Townsend leads the team averaging 7.9 rebounds per game. Franklin is third in scoring at 9.9 per game, while Garner leads the team in triples made at 17 of 48 for a .354 clip.
As a team, the Lady Blazers are shooting .372 from the field on 207 of 556. They are 47 of 157 (.299) from beyond the arc and 120 of 201 from the line (.597). VSU is averaging 44.9 rebounds per game, while recording 89 assists, 139 turnovers, 23 blocks, 90 steals and averaging 64.6 points per game. Conversely, teams are shooting .386 against VSU, while going .261 from beyond the arc and .616 from the line. VSU is allowing 33.3 rebounds per game and 55.8 points per game.
Lee enters with a 7-2 record and a 2-0 mark in GSC play after an 84-37 win at Shorter on Dec. 12. Alabama Huntsville is 4-4 overall and also 2-0 in conference play. The Chargers are coming off a 69-65 loss at home to Anderson (S.C.) on Wednesday and will host West Florida prior to VSU coming to town.
