VALDOSTA, Ga. – Continuing its five-game homestand, the No. 11 Valdosta State men's basketball team is slated to host Brewton-Parker Monday at 7:30 p.m. at The Complex. The Blazers are 4-0 on the year, while Brewton-Parker is 1-3.

The Blazers are coming off two dominating performances over Tuskegee and Albany State last week. VSU downed Tuskegee 93-81 and blew away Albany State 127-92. VSU shot a blistering .571 for the week on 76 of 133, while going 26 of 54 from beyond the arc (.481) and 42 of 54 from the line (.778). VSU averaged 38 rebounds per game with 47 assists, 20 turnovers, four blocks and 16 steals. The Blazers averaged 110 points per game for the week.
Individually graduate
Beau Justice averaged 28.0 points per game on 16 of 27 from the field (.593) with six triples and went a team-best 18 of 22 from the line (.818). He had 13 assists to just one turnover and recorded one steal. In all, seven of the ten players who played during the week averaged double figures. Senior
Winston Morgan was second in scoring at 13.0 points per game as was graduate
Desmond DeRamus. Morgan went 8 of 19 from the field (.421) with four triples and was a perfect 6 of 6 from the line. He had 11 assists for the week. DeRamus shot a team-best 9 of 11 from the field with two triples and 6 of 7 from the line. He had eight assists and his six steals led the team. Junior
Clay Guillozet led the team averaging 6.5 rebounds, while junior
Darrell Jones averaged 6.0 rebounds per game and junior
Goree Venable averaged 5.5 per contest.
For the season, VSU is shooting .511 on 137 of 268, while going 44 of 103 from beyond the arc (.427) and 74 of 79 from the line (.763). The Blazers are averaging 38.0 rebounds per game with 80 assists, 48 turnovers, eight blocks and 32 steals, while averaging 98.0 points per game. Conversely, the opposition is shooting .479 on 115 of 240, while going 21 of 60 from beyond the arc (.350) and is 59 of 80 from the line (.738). Teams are averaging 32.5 rebounds against the Blazers, while the opposition has 53 assists, 68 turnovers, nine blocks and 16 steals. VSU is allowing 77.5 points per game.
Justice leads five players in double figures this season at 22.3 points per game. He is 29 of 61 from the field (.475), 9 of 24 from range (.375) and 22 of 26 from the line (.846). Justice is averaging 3.3 rebounds per game and has 16 assists to just four turnovers this season. Morgan is second in scoring at 13.8 points per game. He leads the team with 11 triples and is 10 of 11 from the line, while going 17 of 39 from the field. Morgan has a team-high 19 assists on the season. Third in scoring is Jones at 13.3 points per game. He is 19 of 34 from the field (.494), a perfect 4 of 4 from beyond the arc and 11 of 17 from the line. Jones leads the team averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.
Brewton-Parker enters at 1-3 on the year as this game will be an exhibition for the Barons. BPC is coming off a 79-76 loss to Coastal Georgia in Mount Vernon, Nov. 8, as it has been off since then. The lone win for BPC this season is a 76-71 win over Regent University on Nov. 3.
The Barons are shooting .417 for the season on 105 of 252, while going 31 of 95 from beyond the arc (.326) and 46 of 67 from the line (.687). BPC is averaging 33.3 rebounds per game, while recording 45 assists, 44 turnovers, seven blocks and 16 steals. The Barons are averaging 71.8 points per game, while allowing 76.8. The opposition is shooting .498 against BPC this season on 114 of 229, while draining 33 triples in 64 attempts for a .516 clip. BPC is allowing 36.8 rebounds per game.
Individually, Jamelle Lanier, Jr., leads the team averaging 16.0 points per game on 17 of 33 from the field with 10 triples. Michael Volley is second in scoring at 11.8 points per game on 18 of 40 from the floor with four triples and 7 of 9 from the line. Treyvon Deloach is averaging 10.8 points per game and leads the team averaging 6.8 rebounds per game. Deloach leads the team with 19 made field goals.
BPC is under the direction of first year head coach Daniel Prevett, as he is in his fourth season at Brewton-Parker. He was the head coach of the women's basketball team for one year before being promoted to Vice President of Athletics and Student Development in July 2016. In May of 2018, he took over the men's basketball coaching duties.
