THE LEAD: Behind four players with double-digit kills and three double-doubles, the Valdosta State volleyball team responded with a 3-1 win at Alabama Huntsville for its seventh conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon, after a disappointing performance at Montevallo Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In a very even match throughout, the Blazers opened the match with a hard-fought 25-23 win as VSU battled back from an 18-15 deficit to tie the match at 18, 20, and 21.
  • VSU took a 22-21 lead on back-to-back kills from senior Chloe Chubilleau.
  • An attack error on UAH gave VSU set point and junior Kayla Widera hit home her attack for a 25-23 win.
  • The second set saw VSU use a 5-0 run for an 11-8 lead early and build a 16-11 lead.
  • UAH battled within 16-14, but the Blazers scored seven-straight points and nine of ten to end the set at 25-15 and a 2-0 lead.
  • The third set was much more like the first as a back-and-forth affair.  VSU battled back within 17-19 on three-straight points, but UAH had the answer, scoring six of the final seven points for a 25-18 win.
  • The Chargers built a 12-7 lead in the fourth set, but VSU answered with another long rally – this time nine-straight points for a 16-12 lead.
  • VSU led 20-15, but the Chargers wouldn't go quietly as they staved off three match points for a 24-22 deficit, but senior Lindsey Robinson ended all hopes of the comeback with a kill and the 54thand final assist for sophomore Tammy Reyes-Perez
