THE LEAD -Â In a tight-knit battle throughout, Valdosta State's upset bid of 11-1 and 9-0 in Gulf South Conference play Mississippi College came up just short as the Choctaws scored the lone goal in the 81
st minute Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MC's Emma Claire Furman scored her fifth goal of the season as Katie Taylor sent a cross to Furman who finished in the center for the 1-0 lead.
- Neither team had many chances in the match as VSU sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Embler made four saves for the Blazers
- The Choctaws won their 10th-straight match for their second longest in program history.
- MC goalkeeper Gabby Kayser made three saves for her sixth clean sheet this season.
- The second half saw more action as both keepers made two saves in the frame.
- VSU had three shots on frame while MC had five.
- Both teams had two corner kicks.
