VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State volleyball team took revenge on an earlier season loss against the West Alabama with a convincing 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-18) Gulf South Conference win over the rival Tigers on Friday night at The Complex.
Tristyn Sells paved the way offensively for Valdosta State with her second best outing of the season. The junior blasted 12 kills against just four errors for a .333 hitting percentage on the night, and she was joined by
Susanna Peonia, who continued her consistent season with 11 kills and just two errors for a .360 hitting effort.
As a team, the Blazers hit .291 in the contest and were never really threatened by the Tigers, who were held to an .070 hitting percentage on the night. Led by the reigning GSC Defensive Player of the Week
Sydney Chick, who recorded a team high 14 digs, the Blazers racked up 53 total digs and put together seven total blocks.
With the win, VSU evened up their overall record at 11-11, 7-5 in GSC play. Meanwhile, the Tigers fell to 13-12 overall, 6-7 in league action.
Valdosta State's weekend continues with another Gulf South Conference matchup against West Georgia at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at The Complex in Valdosta, Ga.
