VALDOSTA, Ga. – Following a tough weekend at the 2015 South Region Crossover in Carrollton, Ga., Mike Swan's Valdosta State volleyball will be afforded a huge opportunity at redemption with an important Gulf South Conference matchup against the No. 18 West Florida Argonauts on Tuesday, October 20^th, at The Complex in Valdosta, Ga.
 
The midweek matchup, slated for 6:00 p.m., pits two of the GSC's top teams against one another and will feature several of the top players in the league. Valdosta State (14-5, 9-2 GSC) will look for a another big outing from Susanna Peonia, who currently leads the GSC with 77 blocks (1.08 per set) and ranks second among all attackers with a .363 hitting percentage on the year. Meanwhile, West Florida (19-4, 11-0 GSC) has enjoyed the defensive efforts of Kathryn Torre, who ranks second in the league with 76 blocks (1.04 per set), along with Autumn Duyn, who ranks third with 235 kills (3.13 per set).
 
During the highly anticipated showdown, the Valdosta State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host their second Make-A-Wish 50/50 Raffle of the 2015-16 season. Tickets will be sold for $1 or 6 tickets for $5, with half of the proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and other 50 percent will go to the raffle winner.
 
Since beginning its alliance with Make-A-Wish in 2003, Division II has raised more than $3.5 million toward granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. More than 470 "wishes" have been granted through Division II contributions. These wishes can serve as a game changer in children's fights against their illnesses, helping them feel better, and in some cases even recover completely.
