Next Up for Blazer Volleyball: The SSC/GSC Crossover Tournament

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Valdosta State Blazer volleyball team will be traveling to Carrollton, Ga. on October 16th-17th where they will look to extend their overall record of 14-2 at the two-day South Region Crossover 2015 Tournament.

There are twenty-two teams that makeup the event. Eleven teams from the Gulf South Conference (GSC) will go head-to-head against eleven teams from the Sunshine State Conference (SSC). All games will be held in The Coliseum at the University of West Georgia where they will delegate four courts from which the teams will play on.

Day 1: The Blazers seeded third will open the tournament against the number eighth seed Eckerd College on Friday, October 16th at 4:45pm on Court 4. The Tritons of Eckerd enter the contest with an overall record of 8-7. Eckerd is part of the SSC where they have established a 3-4 record in conference play. The Blazers have already faced and defeated three teams this season from the Sunshine State Conference which include Barry, Lynn, and Rollins. Valdosta State will look to add Eckerd to the list of wins.

Day 2: VSU will open the second day of the tournament against the number two Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic. The two teams will face off on Court 2 at 12:15pm. The Sailfish enter the tournament with a 12-3 overall record. Later in the day, the third and final game of the tournament for VSU will pit the Blazers against Florida Southern. The Mocs of Florida Southern are seeded fourth in the tournament and enter with a 13-3 overall record and a 4-3 stint in SSC play. The match is scheduled to set off at 4:45pm on Court 1.
