VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State looks to rebound from its double overtime loss to Christian Brothers as the Blazers welcome the Gulf South Conference's top team, the Union Bulldogs, to The Complex Monday evening at 8:00 p.m.
The Blazers enter the game with a 7-6 record and are 2-5 in GSC play following the last second loss to the Bucs on Saturday. The game marked the second time in as many home games that VSU fell in overtime. Meanwhile, Union is riding a three-game winning streak and sits atop the GSC standings with a 5-2 league record to go along with an 11-2 mark overall.
James Spencer recorded his second career double-double, with 23 points and 10 rebounds, against Christian Brothers and now leads the Valdosta State team in both points per game, at 13.9, and in rebounding, at 7.1.
Blake Justice is second on the team with 12.8 points an outing while
Jeff Nibo provides a spark off the bench as he scores nine points a game, spurred on by a career-best 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting Saturday.
One of the better offensive teams in the league, Shorter has four players average double figures in scoring, led by Coreion Pearson at 17.8. Pearson also has 53 assists on the season. Marterrace Brock adds 17.2 points a contest while Ashanti Day averages 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds.
