Next Up for Blazer Soccer: NCAA South Regional

The Blazers are eyeing a Regional Championship in 2014, and will open up against a familiar GSC rival in Christian Brothers

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Following a rousing Gulf South Conference Championship win less than one week ago, the Valdosta State soccer team now turns their attention to the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament, beginning with a skirmish against the Lady Bucs of Christian Brothers.

The first matchup between the No. 4 seed Blazers (11-6-2) and the No. 5 seed Lady Bucs (13-5) marks a rematch from earlier in the regular season in which VSU came away with a 2-1 victory. In that contest, Margaret Stauffer and Leanne Bishop each supplied a goal, and the match was one that marked the first win of the season for Valdosta State.

This weekend's regional opener will be held on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Winter Park, Fla. on the home turf of the Rollins Tars, who finished as the South Region's top-ranked team. Friday night's winner will advance to the regional on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to face Rollins, and the winner on Sunday will earn the right to compete in the South Regional Championship match on November 21.
