Raymond Palmer acts as the cornerbacks coach for the Valdosta State football team. Having played for the Blazers over a four-year period, Palmer took part in 42 games throughout his career and became known as a reliable playmaker in the defensive secondary.
Palmer ended his career with 133 tackles altogether, nine interceptions, 21 passes defended, one forced fumble and one blocked kick. He managed to get at least one interception in each of his four seasons, reaching a career high of four interceptions in 2016. In 2018 he was team captain and played a key role in guiding Valdosta State to a flawless 14-0 record and the NCAA Division II National Championship. During the championship run he had three interceptions, returning each one for a touchdown.
Palmer, who graduated from Valdosta State, obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business and Communications. He is now returning to the Blazers where he was a top defensive back and a team leader as he starts his coaching career.
