Clinton, Miss. - VSU (2-1-1, 1-0 GSC) travels to face Mississippi Christian (3-1-1, 1-0 GSC) for their first GSC road test of the season on Wednesday Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. 

The Blazers are hot off the heels of a 3-2 home victory over Delta State this past weekend. The offense has been firing on all cylinders scoring ten goals over four matches; the second most as a team in the GSC. 

Sarah Hudson leads the squad with three goals and a pair of assists, sitting fifth for most points in the conference this season.

Anna Dandeneau and Kyndal Smith both sit at two goals on the season. Kayleigh Kearns has a goal and a pair of assists. While Ameliah Dixon and Jenni McIntosh each have a goal of the game winning variety.

Natalie Ocampo has two assists. Kaitlyn Scherer has three assists, giving her the fourth most in the GSC.

Adrienne Cardona-Colon has logged all 360 minutes in goal with 21 saves and a 72.4% save percentage with her season high of eight saves coming last week against Delta State. She is 4th in the GSC in saves per game.


Scouting the Choctaws

The Choctaws split the spoils with Union in their conference opener with a 2-2 draw at home. 

They are led by junior forward Jaylen Bodry, who is in the top-10 in the GSC in goals, assists and points; Mississippi Christian also sees contributions from Kerri O'Hara, Abby Badurak and Lillie McCutchen.

Between the posts for the Choctaws is Brynn Hedburg, who comes in with a record of 2-1-1 with 17 saves on the year.

The Blazers are 2-9-1 all time against the Choctaws. They are currently riding a two match winning streak with their first victory coming in the 2024 with a 2-0 shutout in the Magnolia State. In their most recent meeting the Blazers won 3-1 at home.
