Valdosta, GA- The Valdosta State men's and women's cross country team were selected 10th in the 2026 Gulf South Conference Coaches Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference ahead of the upcoming season.

 

The Blazer men received 12 points to rank 10th among the conference's 10 teams. Lee was selected as the preseason favorite with 81 points and nine first-place votes, followed by Alabama Huntsville with 72 points and one first-place vote. Mississippi Christian, Auburn Montgomery, and Union rounded out the top five.

 

On the women's side, VSU received 19 points to rank among the 11 teams in the conference. Lee was again selected as the preseason favorite, collecting 98 points and eight first-place votes, followed by Mississippi Christian with 91 points and three first-place votes. Alabama Huntsville, Union, and Trevecca Nazarene completed the top five. 

 

Looking forward, the Blazers will be hosting the VSU Border Clash as their season opener on Friday, September 4th at Freedom Park at 7PM.
