VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State University Athletics announced the implementation of a Clear Bag policy at home Blazer athletic events this year.  
 
This policy is for all ticketed sports including baseball, men's and women's basketball, football, soccer, softball, and volleyball and will be in effect for both regular season and postseason contests.
 
"At VSU, the safety of our students, faculty, staff and community is our highest priority," added Chief Christopher Hughes of the Valdosta State University Police Department. "This policy helps create a safer and more enjoyable gameday experience for everyone in attendance."
 
Permitted bags include: clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags; one-gallon clear plastic storage bags, small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5", diaper bags accompanying a child; and medically necessary bags. All bags (including clear bags) will be subject to inspection prior to and during any event.   
 
Prohibited bags include but are not limited to: any non-clear bag larger that 4.5" x 6.5" such as purses, backpacks, duffle bags, coolers, camera/computer bags, binocular cases, fanny packs, briefcases or drawstring bags.
 
Clear Bag policies have quickly become standard best practice in facility management with similar policies being enacted across the nation at all levels including professional sports, Division I and many Division II and III institutions.
