VALDOSTA, Ga. – Celebrate Independence Day with fitness and fun as the Valdosta State cross country program hosts the annual Valdosta 5K on Saturday, July 4, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Hosted by Valdosta State head cross country coach Todd Smoot, the annual event serves as a fundraiser for the Blazer men's and women's cross country programs while providing the community an opportunity to celebrate the holiday with a festive race.

Race-day registration will be available from 6:30 to 7:20 a.m. Participants also may register online through 2:59 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at http://www.vstateblazers.com/valdosta5k .

The race is open to both runners and walkers who can complete the 5K distance in 60 minutes or less. Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic or festive attire, although it is not required. Donations to support the Blazer cross country programs also are gratefully accepted.

Participants are encouraged to mark their calendars for the next Blazer cross country fundraiser, the Blazer 5K, scheduled for Aug. 15, 2026. That event will provide an opportunity to meet the 2026 Valdosta State men's and women's cross country teams while continuing to support the programs.
