Blazer Men’s Golf Sits Fourth Following First Round of Gulf South Conference Championships

DICKSON, Tenn. – The Valdosta State men's golf team opened the 2026 Gulf South Conference Championship with a 290 first round score and currently sits fourth heading into Tuesday's second round on the par 72, 6,858-yard Greystone Golf Club.
 
Top-ranked West Florida leads the nine-team field with a 4-under 284, while upstart Mississippi College is second at 3-under 285.  No. 2-ranked Lee is third at 1-under 287, while VSU is fourth at 290, followed by Union at 291 to round out the top five.  
 
Trevecca Nazarene sits sixth at 297, while Christian Brothers carded a 301 score and Delta State is eighth at 302.  Montevallo sits ninth heading into Tuesday's second round with a 311 score.  
 
Individually, Mississippi College's Joao Iglesias carded a 6-under 66 to lead the field, while Union's Trace Robinson fired a 3-under 69 for second.  Blazer junior William Carestam eagled the final hole to shoot 2-under 70 for the opening round and move the Blazers into fourth as a team.  Carestam is tied for third with three other players. 
 
Blazer Alexander Nilehn carded even par 72 on Monday is tied for ninth.  Junior Adam Waller fired a 73 and is tied for 16th, while freshman Kaleb Shiver finished with a 75 and is tied for 24th.  Senior Elad Sebbag carded an 84 and is tied for 44th.
