CLINTON, Miss. - The Valdosta State baseball team (11-22, 8-13 Gulf South Conference) dropped its series finale to Mississippi College (20-14, 14-7 GSC) by a score of 9-4 on Saturday afternoon at Frierson Field.

The Blazers started the scoring by breaking through in the fifth inning, plating two runs before adding two more in the sixth. A five-run fifth inning from the Choctaws setup a 5-4 advantage for the home team midway through the contest.

Mississippi College would add a run in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh to run ahead to a 9-4 victory. The Blazers reached base 14 times via nine hits and five walks in the loss.

Sophomore Parker Ladd made a splash offensively, sending a two-run blast out of the ballpark to open the day's scoring. Junior Charlie Banks added a pair of hits, while senior Will Beckham posted a two-hit effort and drove in a run.

Junior Jason Mack also drove in a run and finished with a double, while junior Ryan Strachan and senior Brent Howard each added hits to Valdosta State's nine on the afternoon.

Junior Jack Butler took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) over 4.2 innings. The Blazers called on multiple arms out of the bullpen as Mississippi College finished with 11 hits in the game.
