BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - VSU women's volleyball senior libero, Eimy Negron Domenech, has been named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week after another outstanding week for the Blazers.



This is Negron Domenech's third GSC Defensive Player of the Week of the 2026 season and has been one of the top defensive players in the conference all season.

Negron Domenech was the anchor of the Valdosta State defense during their 2-0 week in conference play with 64 digs in total against Union and Christian Brothers. She averaged 32 digs per game and 5.33 digs per set as the Blazers wrapped up their final two home matches of the regular season.

She opened the weekend with 21 digs in a 3-0 sweep against Union on Friday night. Negron Domenech then went on to have a match high of 43 digs in Saturday's 3-1 win over Christian Brothers.

The weekend also saw a significant milestone for Negron Domenech where she broke the Valdosta State single-season digs record in the Christian Brothers match. She had previously tied the school record of 579 digs against Union and then broke it with her first dig of the day on Saturday. She finished the weekend with 622 digs, with more opportunities to tack on more, for this season.
