Blazers Set for FSU XC Invite

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Valdosta State cross country team will be back in action on Friday morning as the Blazers take on the Florida State XC Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park.

The 8K for the men is set to start at 7:40 a.m. and the women will follow with the 6K at 8:20 a.m.

Last Time Out:

The Blazers had a good performance at the Twilight at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala., with both teams achieving top-three finishes.

The VSU men's team came in second overall, maintaining its excellent start to the season. Nick Waddell led the pack, securing third place and Jake Wilkerson, Liam LeBrocq, CalebTilford and Parker Henderson all managed to finish in the top 15.

LeBrocq then received his first GSC Freshman of the Week award as a result of his performance. The freshman finished the race with a time of 26:20.0 and ended up placing 14th overall for the men's 8K.

The women's team came in third for team standings, with Samantha Savinon-Rios leading them and finishing in seventh place individually. Ella Burnett and Emma Burnett also gave strong performances for the Blazers.

Ranked In The Region:

The VSU men's team is now ranked ninth in the USTFCCCA South Region from their last meet. This is the first time the Blazers have been included in the rankings since 2023.

The Blazers hope to carry on from their strong start by competing against another tough field at Apalachee Regional Park.
