ALBANY, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's golf team fired a final round 302 to finish 13
th at the 2025 Hurricane Invitational Tuesday afternoon on the par 72, 7,024-yard Doublegate Country Club Course hosted by Georgia Southwestern University.
Florida Southern led the way with a 6-under 858 score on rounds of 289, 287 and 282 to win the 15-team field. Columbus State finished second with an 866 score, followed by Georgia Southwestern (868) for third. USC Beaufort finished fourth at 872, followed by Wingate at 874 to round out the top five.
Tampa finished sixth with an 876 score and had the winning player in Mohit Balaji who finished with a 5-under 211. Saint Leo and Lincoln Memorial tied for seventh (884), followed by Carson-Newman (888) and Barton rounded out the top ten at 900. Georgia College finished 11
th at 901, followed by North Georgia (905) and VSU was 13
th (907). Anderson finished 14
th at 915 and Shorter was 15
th at 931.
Balaji won the tournament by one stroke over three players who all were 4-under 212 in Columbus State's Bernard Meyer, Florida Southern's Jack VanderSchuur and USC Beaufort's Octavio Laurent. USCB's Nikolai Holme finished fifth at 3-under 213.

Alexander Nilehn paced the team finishing tied for 37
th with a 224 score on rounds of 72, 74, 78. Senior
Elad Sebbag tied for 52
nd with a 228 score on rounds of 77, 75 and 76, while senior
Joshua Burki finished tied for 56
th with a 229 score on rounds of 81, 76, 72. Junior
William Carestam finished tied for 61
st with a 231 score on rounds of 77, 78 and 76, while junior
Nick Mueller finished 75
th with a 238 score on rounds of 76, 82, 80. Playing as an individual, freshman
Jimmy Cohen finished 79
th with a 251 score on rounds of 77, 88 and 86.
The Blazers return home to prepare for the NCAA Division II National Preview set for Oct. 6-7 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
